S/V Danneskjold Letter: Experience doesn’t support anti-gun writer

The Dispatch slaughtered my letter to the editor.

The submitted text:

I was not surprised to read in the Dispatch a child-endangering missive from Ohio’s paid anti-gun lobbyist, Toby Hoover, and her two-member anti-gun organization this past Saturday. (Arming Staff Endangers Students, Dispatch Letters, Dec. 21).

Ms. Hoover took great pains, some seven days after a school shooting was stopped cold in eighty seconds by an armed school employee, to claim that armed school employees don’t stop school shootings.

It is the fundamental nature of those blinded by emotion and fear to ignore obvious data disproving the way they ‘feel.’ Ms. Hoover, her paymaster New York nanny-Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and other middling public figures like Mayor Michael Coleman all provide examples of this anti-intellectualism.

In part it is hard to blame them. Their greatest flaw – beyond accepting paychecks to assault civil liberties – is that they believe violent criminals think the same way they, the gun-grabbers, ‘feel.’ This not being the case, every emotional and fear-tainted thought they bellow regarding the proper address of criminal behavior is useless, and more often than not counterproductive.

This past year has seen great efforts nationwide to assault numerous American liberties in the name of specious ‘public’ goals. Fortunately in most Second Amendment cases the attack has been turned back. Here in Ohio, through means of legislation like Rep. Terry Johnson’s H.B. 203, liberty-supporting politicians have proven stronger than their New York-funded adversaries.

May 2014 bring further advances in the cause of human liberty, and further humiliating defeats for those dedicated to its destruction; both at home here in Ohio, and across the nation.

What they printed:

Here in Ohio, through legislation such as Rep. Terry Johnson’s House Bill 203, which would loosen Ohio’s concealed-carry licensing law, liberty-supporting politicians have proved stronger than their New York-funded adversaries.
